Cullum Clark to Illuminate Economic Growth at Plano Chamber Annual Meeting

PLANO, TX – January 5, 2024 – The Plano Chamber of Commerce is thrilled to announce Cullum Clark, Director at the Bush Institute-SMU Economic Growth Initiative and Adjunct Professor of Economics at SMU, as the keynote speaker for our Annual Meeting. The event will take place on Wednesday, January 10, 2024, at the Plano ISD Robinson Fine Arts Center, 1800 Alma Dr, Plano, TX 75075.

Clark brings to the forum a formidable combination of investment industry experience and academic acumen, poised to shed light on the significance of economic policy and growth, especially within the burgeoning sector of biotech and life sciences.

This year’s meeting is further distinguished by an expert panel including Dr. Joe Pancrazio, Vice President for Research and Professor for Bioengineering at the University of Texas at Dallas; Kathleen Otto, Chief Executive Officer at BioNTX; and Lucy Bannon, Chief Communications Officer at NexPoint. These thought leaders will explore the impact and opportunities that biotech and life sciences present for the business community.

We are also thrilled to announce that Jobin Panicker, reporter from WFAA, will be moderating the panel discussion. His experience and insight are sure to enrich the conversation and provide valuable perspectives.

The Annual Meeting will also be a moment to celebrate the Chamber's accomplishments, featuring the ceremonial passing of the gavel from Michael Lawson of The Boeing Company to David Downs of Downs Fisher Financial and the introduction of the 2024 Board of Directors.

Michael Lawson states, “It has been a year of remarkable growth and innovation. As I pass the baton to David, I am confident that his leadership will continue to drive the Chamber towards greater business success and community impact in Plano.”

Incoming Chair, David Downs, shares his enthusiasm, “Stepping into this role at such a critical time for our city's businesses is an incredible honor. I am committed to building upon our past successes and opening new avenues for growth and prosperity for all.”

As we approach the year's end, members and prospective members are encouraged to register to be part of this pivotal event that will shape our strategic initiatives for 2024.

We are proud to announce the University of Texas at Dallas as the Gold Sponsor for this event, affirming their commitment to fostering educational and economic growth. Collin Creek joins us as the Reception Sponsor.
