Wind Sculptures in Motion -The Kinetic Art of Lyman Whitaker at the Dallas Arboretum
Mark your calendar for the arrival of Lyman Whitaker and his spectacular hand-crafted wind sculptures to the Dallas Arboretum this spring and summer. As the most recognized creator of kinetic art in the world, Whitaker’s copper wind sculptures will be mesmerizing juxtaposed with the beautiful gardens. Each piece of artwork, driven by the wind, is organic in nature and dependent upon its natural surroundings to provide its movement. The sculptures range in height from 5 to 27 feet tall and 122 sculptures will be arranged in groupings throughout the garden for viewing. Whitaker says, “The garden is a perfect venue for my pieces. Since they are derivative of plant forms, they feel at home among the plants.”
